Welcome to 2013

Last year I purchased my first quarter scale kit, a cottage from Petite Properties, called Rosebud Cottage.  After much hesitation I had my first go at Paperclay and didn't find it too hard at all.  It sat, undecorated, for months until a recent spell of very hot weather kept me indoors for several days, so I tackled the distressing and finishing of the exterior of the cottage.  Distressing is also something that didnt come very easy to me, a person who loves neat, pristine lol.  The instructions, diagrams and photos for the kit were great and I am very happy with this cute little cottage.  Now to make the furniture for the inside, also from a book by Bea.

Frontage of the Umbrella Shop. Totally made from scratch - could not source ready made windows or doors as I wanted them accurate replicas. Have to make full-length glass fronted display cabinets for all 3 internal walls next. The fun part will be to make all the different umbrellas, parasols and walking sticks for the cabinets.

Thought it was about time I updated my blog with what I've been doing the last couple of months. I've been having a break from my Georgian House and a replica of The Old Umbrella Shop, a Victorian Umbrella-makers shop as I became interested in doing a Dutch Baby House Cabinet after several friends started one. Mine was a raw cabinet from Silly Sisters and so far I have done the outside in cream with decals and gold touches and painted the inside white, ready for the wall and floor papers. Next will be the 144th furniture kits which I know will be a real challenge!

Kitchen

Since Christmas I have completed the kitchen in my Georgian house. I spent many hours cutting all the icy pole sticks to make the panelling that you can't hardly see for all the furniture! It is such a narrow, deep room it was difficult to fit everything in that I would like to.
